How to: Harness Social Media

Welcome to our best practice guide for social media! This guide will provide practical tips and ready-to-use templates for leveraging social media to onboard more Locals, showcase your amazing community, and boost those interactions and conversions.

Why utilize social media?

Your social media accounts are a fantastic channel for connecting with your target audiences. It is a place where people discover new brands and follow their favorite ones. Linking your social media and website seamlessly together creates a cohesive customer journey that guides potential customers from discovery to conversion and turns those followers into active Locals.


Best Practices

How to stop that fast social media thumb and get the message through? Here are some best practice tips for creating posts that grab the attention!

1. Visuals are key

The visual is what catches the eye first. Using high-res images with a short text overlay is highly recommended.

2. Copy - be clear and concise

For captions longer than 125 characters, people must tap to expand the caption, so place important announcements and messages at the beginning. Placing a catchy message in the image also helps to engage and get people to read the caption, as they already have some context. See our examples and templates below.

You can add the link to the copy on Facebook, but on Instagram, it needs to be added to the link/link tree in the bio.

Don't forget to say what's in it for them! Make sure to highlight the exclusive rewards, so customers know they can get rewarded for their involvement.

You can now connect with owners nearby to get an honest opinion or test the [add product] in real life. Just head to the link in the bio 👆 There, you'll find a friendly group of [Brand] Locals who are happy to answer your questions. 😊

While a regular post gets buried under new content, posting on Instagram Stories and creating a Highlight keeps the content easily visible and accessible also in the future. The swipe-up function also allows you to direct traffic easily.

Here an example for Instagram Stories:
Make sure to add the swipe-up function to all four posts. That way, you can directly direct people to the plugin/signup page.

Add it to your profile highlights
After posting the Stories, create a Highlight and add the Stories there. Don't know how this works? No worries, here a guide by Instagram.


3. Drive traffic to site with a clear CTA and link

Be clear and concise in what you want people to do and direct them accordingly. Only link to one site within the post to avoid confusion and lost traffic.

Important! On Facebook, you can add the link directly to the copy, but on an Instagram post, it needs to be added to the link/link tree in the bio (unless it is an Instagram Story post).

4. Leverage those existing communities

Have a closed community for excited owners? Or a fan-created community where people discuss your products? These are ideal places to engage and get your existing customers on board. Create a personal post for this community. Below are some ideas and examples.
